Fit for School supports the implementation of the Essential Health Care Package (EHCP), which has already been put into practice in 27 provinces across the Philippines. At the end of school year 2008/9, more than 900,000 children were part of the program.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary, Jesli Lapus, and the League of Provinces president, Leo Ocampo, signed a memorandum of understanding for the continuing collaboration between DepEd and provincial governments to support and further scale-up EHCP.

DepEd order No. 65 and DepEd order No.66 mandate all school administrators and teachers to implement EHCP wherever the local government provides funding for materials and supplies.

Politicians from an additional 20 local government units have expressed their commitment to allocating the funds for province-wide implementation in their respective provinces. By the end of the school year 2009/10, it is expected that more than one million children will have access to EHCP.
